On June 14, 2024, Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, inspected the reconstruction of Upper and Lower Erejuwa Road, Esisi Road, and Hospital Road in Warri. He noted that these projects are part of the governor’s broader urban renewal strategies aimed at enhancing infrastructure and improving living standards.
Additionally, the development of the Asaba Waterfront is underway, aiming to boost tourism and urban renewal efforts. The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, highlighted that this project is designed to revitalize the waterfront area, enhancing its appeal and contributing to the state’s economic growth.
Rural Development and Infrastructure
In January 2025, Commissioner Mr. Charles Aniagwu emphasized the administration’s commitment to connecting communities and transforming lives through rural road infrastructure. He reported that over 100 km of roads have been completed, with an additional 150 km under construction, reflecting the government’s dedication to improving rural connectivity and accessibility.
Federal Government Housing Projects
The Federal Government, in collaboration with the Delta State Government, has initiated the construction of 250 housing units in Ekpan Community, Uvwie Local Government Area. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on June 29, 2024, with the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, in attendance. This project is part of the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme, aiming to provide affordable housing and stimulate economic development.
Furthermore, the Federal Government has set a three-month target to complete the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Delta State. The initiative aims to deliver 50,000 housing units nationwide, with Delta State among the first to commence construction, reflecting a strong commitment to addressing housing deficits and promoting urban development.
